I just completed five sessions of swim coaching with Sarah Anne, spread over about 8 weeks. Sarah Anne was so dedicated and thorough after each session sending me detailed notes about how I had improved, how I could improve further, drills to practise, videos of me above and below the water. It really inspired me to do the homework and show her the difference each time.

I really feel like I have improved. When I remember to do everything I've been taught I get a real sense of surging through the water. All I have to do now is remember everything. I am a lot more aware of what I am doing wrong and what I need to do to swim better.
The other thing I liked is that the lessons are really convenient and hassle free. I had been meaning to go to squads over in the city since September but it just seemed such an effort whereas lessons in the sea pool take no effort to get to or get ready for.

I decided to have a course of stroke correction lessons with Jules as part of my training for a Long Course Triathlon. Swimming has always been my weakest leg in triathlons and not being used to swimming 2km I was actually more nervous about the swim than running 20km! Jules really improved my stroke and changed it from a manic flapping of arms to a much more efficient glide. She broke down the stroke into parts and really made me think about maximising the distance covered with each stroke. When it came to the race, I actually enjoyed the swim and didn’t feel at all tired towards the end which was a great feeling. My time to swim the 2km was only 2 minutes slower than my 1.5km time before I had the lessons so not only did I use less energy my speed increased. Brilliant!

I thought I was swimming correctly, oh boy was I wrong. I was so glad that I saw Julie, as she has helped me to swim more efficiently and I have improved my time by a mile in my ocean swimming. Definitely see Julie as the time you spend with her is priceless!!!

I have always been able to swim, but never had any formal swim training, I found that I could swim laps ok but could never tackle ocean swimming comfortably. In such a short time Julie showed me great drills to improve my technique, to create a more relaxed, efficient and driving stroke. No longer am I exhausted after a swim. I can feel how much I have improved and how much further I can go with each stroke. I now have the skills to be able to swim in the ocean confidently. Thanks Julie, I look forward to joining the B&B swimmers as often as I can!

I took up open water swimming about 10 years ago when I came to Manly. Despite training hard and doing lots of ocean racing I never seemed to get any faster. When I joined B&B I watched everyone passing me and couldn't work out what they were doing to enable them to overtake me so effortlessly! Julie's lessons were an eye-opener. She skillfully takes the stroke to pieces and builds it up one component at a time, clearly explaining each step. I found it helpful to put each new action into practice for a week or two before the next lesson. While not exactly beating everyone else to Shelly I have definitely reduced the large gap between me and the mob, and sometimes I am not even the last there! Thank you Jules, you have made my swimming so much more enjoyable and given me a sound basis to work on and improve.

I have had many swim lessons and stroke corrections in the past, but sometimes too much information at once just doesn't come together. "I just joined the 'Bold & Beautiful 'swim squad a week ago. I have never been a strong swimmer and only started ocean swimming 2 months ago. On my first swim with B&B, I made it to Shelly but had to walk back. I decided to get some stroke correction classes with Jules and after my first lesson I completed the full swim to shelly and back!! It's the longest distance I have ever swum in my life and I didn't come last either.
Following my first swim lesson with Jules I then entered the Manly March 6 1km swim and shaved 7 minutes off my previous record. I'm ecstatic with the instant results just from one lesson and I'm looking forward to becoming the best swimmer I can be. In just one lesson Julie has helped me gain confidence in the open water by improving my stroke. I also learned the importance of sighting my destination as well as staying relaxed throughout my swim. Thanks Julie !"
